Where It All Began
In the spring of 2020, as the world entered lockdown, millions of people suddenly found themselves isolated and uncertain. Like many others, Toyah Willcox and Robert Fripp were spending their days at home when they decided to post a short musical clip online one Sunday afternoon.
The video was filmed in their kitchen and it was completely spontaneous. Neither of them expected what would happen next.
Within minutes the clip began spreading across the internet as people around the world shared it with friends and family. At a time when many people felt anxious and alone, the energy and humour of the video brought a moment of joy to thousands of viewers.
Encouraged by the response, Toyah and Robert decided to post another performance the following Sunday. Then another. And another.
What started as a simple lockdown moment soon became a global phenomenon known as Toyah and Robert’s Sunday Lunch.
Each week the pair share their own unique interpretations of classic rock songs filmed in their kitchen with Robert’s iconic guitar playing and Toyah’s unmistakable stage presence. The series has since attracted millions of viewers around the world and become a much loved Sunday tradition for fans everywhere.
And it all began right here.
